Glued Insulated Joints

Insulated joints serve to interrupt the electric circuit in the rails at both ends of a rail sector, and therefore play an important role in signalling.

In the continuously welded rail insulated joints are subject to high compressive forces in summer and high tensile forces in winter. Additionally they are constantly exposed to the pressure and weight of freight and passenger traffic. Insulated joints are high-maintenance items, they are a source of noise and they reduce the ride quality for passengers.

Vossloh Rail Services offers an answer to all these challenges: glued insulated diagonal joints. Since 2007 the IVB 30 diagonal joints have also been included as the standard insulated joint in Deutsche Bahn regulations.

Advantages
  • Optimised longitudinal force transmission through all-around gluing
  • Impact-free transition between rails
  • Increased travelling comfort, extended rail life cycles and reduced noise pollution
  • Less need for maintenance for the entire track system (e.g. tamping)

Design
  • Joint available integrated into long rails up to 180 m or as individual piece
  • All relevant rail profiles (standard and head-hardened) according to customer requirements
  • The glued joint is still available as conventional (straight) S-joint
